"I have trained with Dave Fletcher since March 2005. I had just damaged by back again while skiing as well as tearing a small muscle in the connected areas to my back. After going through physiotherapy, etc, it was clear that I needed to improve my physical fitness as well as my strength, and in particular my core strength. I met with Dave at my local health club and we devised a plan to address these issues. This also included learning boxing and kick boxing which I have found to me extremely rewarding. "I have been training with Dave for several months now working on speed and power in my punching and kicking. Working rounds has proved to be one of the toughest exercise regimes I've ever tried and so it has provided a focus for the rest of my fitness and strength training. Dave has a very good grasp on how hard to push, so rounds tend to finish between the point where I want to stop and the point where I have to stop. I am pleased with the progress I have made. My punching has improved a lot and I am now able to pull off some long combinations which would have given me a lot of trouble before. Dave has also spent a lot of time working on my core strength through a lot of abdominal work. This has helped greatly making my whole body stronger both for punching and kicking. "I started to work with David in November 2006 when I realised that I was over-weight and very unfit. I found Dave from a recommendation through the Aegis studio and have to say that I have been very impressed with both. I started training with David with two aims, both to lose weight and working to improve my running fitness to race at 5k, 10k and half marathon distances. Over the time I have trained with David these goals have changed as various targets have been bettered with subsequent aims to improve my muscle strength and tone.

David introduced me to a way of fitness that I had never seen before, based on an all body workout utilising a number of muscles at one time rather than the workouts that I and other gym-goers often follow blindly using machines that train one muscle group at a time.

I had never imagined that sessions would start with light plyometric stretching and warm up exercises which then move on to targeted programmes working on various muscle groups as determined as to the relevant stage of my programme. The session always ends with a specific sports stretch which is often very needed….

I would describe David’s approach to fitness to be very holistic one. He has been a great source of knowledge on all aspects of fitness, nutrition, musculature, programmes and has become a friend and counsellor along the way.

Dave has given me the power and ability to increase my knowledge base and given me the springboard to learn more in my own time.
