Postural Alignment
Bad posture is one of the main causes
of injury, lower back pain and joint discomfort. Many of my clients are desk bound
for up to 12 hours on a daily basis. Postural alignment is a large part of any successful
exercise programme. The most common postural alignment issues I deal with include
‘rounded shoulders’ and ‘pelvic misalignment’.
As part of my initial assessment, I will look closely at posture and joint alignment,
paying particular attention to the position of the hips, shoulders and neck. By
improving your posture you can expect to improve many aspects of your health and
fitness including:
- Efficiency of breathing
- Reduced stiffness particularly in your neck and back.
Postural alignment and core conditioning are as important as each other for optimum
health and fitness. The bottom line is, if your body is aligned from back to front,
top to bottom and left to right, you will steer away from injuries and towards optimum
health.
